Wolf where? by Kaiseto Wolf where? by Kaiseto
Pixeljoint is having a werewolves vs. vampires avatar battle, so I made this. Weirdly, I had to flip the frame order in reverse after I made it, because apparently my brain can't animate properly.

Submitted at 2x original size.
Uses 11 colors + 1 transparency
5 Frames of animation.

Edit: Already had to change it to fix the arm movement a bit. I'm so pedantic...

Edit 2: Updated some stuff for smoothness' sake, namely some of the coloring and the movement of the head.

Kind of like what someone else said, can I use this as a logo for my Youtube channel or something? I won't sell or profit off of it. If anyone asks who made it I'll direct them to your Deviantart.

Sounds fine to me. That should be acceptable use for the CC license I picked.

How do u use it as a pic on a website?

That would depend entirely on the website. You'll probably want to use the "Download" link on the right to save the gif, and upload the pic from your computer. Some sites will let you link via URL though.

Sure. As long as you're not trying to profit off it or anything. Maybe make a note of where it came from.

I think this was one of my first experiments with GraphicsGale. A lot of my other pixel art was done in Paintshop Pro 7, because it's what I was familiar with.

Oh thank you for replying! I've never heard of GraphicsGale, but I'll give it a look. Do you know if there're any good tutorials out there for making this kinda thing with GraphicsGale?

I don't know of any personally. It's a fairly simple tool to pick up though. The only thing I really had to learn from the start was that only 1 color is selected at a time, and right-click is automatically assigned to the color-picker.

This was never part of a project. It was an animation for a Pixeljoint Vampires vs. Werewolves Halloween avatar contest.

Admittedly the animation here seems kinda jerky, mostly the head and his right (our left) arm. When the head moves back and the arm moves down, it sort of looks like a frame is missing.

Also, I think it's worth mentioning that the shading on his shirt underneath his left arm (our right) is jumping around at kinda crazy random :B

Other than that, this is pretty great, as usual! Everything looks nice and fluid, the only thing really hurting it being that jerkiness.

*Sigh* Yeah... you're right about the coloring error. It was about 4AM when I finished it, so there was no way I was going back and fixing it though. Maybe tonight.

I'll look into the jerkiness, but I actually kind of like it. When you're working with a small number of frames (I'm not adding one :p) sometimes it's necessary, even good to have sharp movement. If his arm or head jerked way off to the side for a frame and had to be reeled back in, I'd agree more strongly, but I kind of like it how it is. Like the color thing though, I'll play around with it.

Sharp movement can be good in an animation with few frames, yeah, but in an idle pose I think it's a bit jarring to have that sort of jerkiness included. Movements should be more subtle, even in an energetic idle... at least, that's what I think, haha.

Anyway, this update looks splendid! The movement is far less jarring and everything flows really nicely. I think it was only really the arm having such exaggerated movement that caused the issue, because the movement of the tail doesn't really clash with the rest of the figure at all.

I only ended up changing the arm a very, very small amount. It looked like a farther drop than it was. The head was actually more jerky, and I think changing that helped to add a little smoothness to the rest of the piece.

Wolfy <3

Actually, I think the cycle looks much better if you don't flip the animation, the only thing that was out of place in the original animation was the tail (again hehe), which should move backwards (like the one you uploaded).

Oh... you can't, but not because I say so :p It's too big. I was going to do that, but I couldn't really find a decent way to shrink it down to 50x50 without losing quality or content.
