Inari's Messenger

Description

More anthro. I suppose I've been on a kick lately.

Got bored - very bored - in computer science today while searching for information on Oracle (the corporation). Started searching up things on Shintoism (love the mythology) and happened to get reading about Inari. I'd already known some things about the god, but nevertheless, it inspired me to draw this later in the day.

Supposedly, it's a messenger of Inari. A low level messenger I suppose. A kitsune with a single tail, his hoshi-no-tama tied to his tail, and the red (or it would be red if I could color) drape commonly seen on statues of Inari. Also wearing some kind of long sash.

He's carrying a barrel of sake in his right hand. Because, you know. It's a messenger of the god of rice. And you can always trust a guy with acohol. ... or something like that.

Used some references on here, mostly for the barrel and the lucky-cat tied to his wrist. Other than that a lot of winging it. Had some prior knowledge of the pose before drawing, thanks to a bout of boredom (read: doodling) in American Studies.

Enjoy?
